What is HoopEd's Health Policy?
Our camp delegating nurse is Amy Scribner, RN. She may reach out to you with any concerns noted at camp. She may be reached through the Camp Director.
PLEASE NOTE: If you feel it is in the best interest of the camper(s) to discuss any health concerns (OR communicable issues with her prior to camp) PLEASE call the main number 301-933-0398. She will return your call to develop a plan of action. If you forget or it is last minute please discuss with director and she may call you to formulate a plan of action if necessary. She or the director may reach out to you with any concerns noted at camp.
HoopEd practices confidentiality amongst other campers.
All HoopEd directors and assistant directors are CPR and First Aid trained.
What is the camper-to-coach ratio at a HoopEd skills class, after-school program or camp?
HoopEd's philosophy is that every child should connect with the instructor and campers involved in the camp in a manner that is fun, interactive and stimulating. Therefore, HoopEd aims to establish a 9:1 camper-to-coach ratio for every program and/or camp.
What is a typical HoopEd camp, after-school or skills class schedule?
Most HoopEd camps operate on a 9:00AM-3:00PM schedule. All afterschool classes follow a 3:20-4:20PM format unless otherwise noted. Specific afterschool classes (i.e. Basketball, Body Movement and Ball Skills) adhere to schedules that are determined based on instructor and venue availability. Our skills classes are typically run during the week at night. Time and day depend on the age group. Parents are encouraged to visit the HoopEd website for more information on all of our programs.
What does a typical camp day look like at your Hoops and All-Sports and Games camps?

Can my child attend camp on a day-by-day basis?
Yes, HoopEd understands that children and families have multiple schedules and obligations. To make things easy for our customers, HoopEd offers a partial payment plan for families that need summer camp coverage based on their availability.

Is after-care available following HoopEd programs?
HoopEd instructional staff are available to continue individual and small group educational activities for children whose family members need aftercare supervision following the conclusion of a HoopEd program. Daily aftercare fees are $15 per camper and valid until 5:30 PM.
Does HoopEd provide meals during camp, clinics or after-school programs?
No. Parents are encouraged to pack a non-perishable lunch, snacks and a water bottle for their child. All food and water bottles should be labeled with the child's name.
Does my child need money for incidental expenses during HoopEd activities?
One of the most popular aspects of the HoopEd camp program is the arrival of the 'Good Humor" Ice Cream Man after lunch on certain days of the week. Families will be notified electronically or via the HoopEd Facebook page as to when the Good Humor truck is scheduled to stop by their respective camp site. Most, if not all, campers purchase an ice cream while we supply the fun and laughter at no cost. Parents may elect to give their child $2-3 to cover the cost of an ice cream.
Does HoopEd accommodate children with special needs?
Yes. HoopEd instructors will coordinate lesson plans with management to make the necessary modifications required to provide educational services for children with special needs. Parents are asked to contact David Bell, Staff Director, to arrange said opportunities.
If my child attends a different school than where HoopEd operates its after-school programs, are they still able to participate?
Yes, although it's best to check with HoopEd management before you register to ensure that the school does not have internal policies and procedures that may limit opportunities for children outside of the school.

Where do I pick up and drop off my child?
For security purposes, all pick up and drop off locations will be communicated by HoopEd management in the form of an e-mail to families that have registered for a specific HoopEd camp, clinic or after-school program.
How long has HoopEd been serving the greater Washington, DC area?
HoopEd has served more than 8,700 children, ages 5-13, in neighborhoods throughout the greater Washington, DC area. Founded in 2007 by Jonathan Scribner, HoopEd is reknown for its ability to deliver safe, affordable and meaningful recreational opportunities that encourage youth to stay active and learn life skills while doing so.
Does HoopEd sell its customer database to third-party vendors?
HoopEd vigorously protects the integrity of its customers by encrypting all registration data. In addition, HoopEd will not rent, sell or loan any of its customer lists to any third-party vendors and/or sponsors.
How does HoopEd verify its instructional staff?
Each HoopEd employee is required to submit to a thorough, third party criminal background check which includes fingerprinting and covers national and local databases.
Does HoopEd have a presence on social media sites such as Facebook, Twitter, etc?
HoopEd is beginning to build out individual company pages on Facebook and Twitter in order to increase awareness and generate more support for the company in neighborhoods where HoopEd does not have a formal presence.
Is HoopEd available to assist with birthday parties, Bar and Bat Mitzvahs, Confirmations, company picnics and other special events?
No. We used to offer this as a special service but we are currently phasing this out.
How early can I drop my kids off at camp?
Kids can be dropped off at camp as early as 8:30AM. This gives the camp staff time to get everything set up prior to the kids arriving for the day. Our email confirmation which is sent to all camp registrants contains this information as well.
Does HoopEd have a CIT program?
Yes HoopEd does have a CIT program where former campers or others who are interested can train to eventually become a paid staff member. Please
